Ok so here are the steps we have taken to restrict spammers and spam bots
1. We implemented Moderation of all new members. Members now are placed in a Usergroup upon registration that does not allow posting. They can however download. this is for those just looking for a fast download of TSOY or ROC or FOT no worries there.
2. If those members wish posting priviledges they must send a PM to Myself or Tiger to get moved into registered users group with full priviledges
3. If after 7 days they havent requested a promotion to registered group. Then they are automatically moved to another usergroup which lets them post but all their post are held for moderation. This is where Haze and Sidd can be of service, by helping us moderate those post. Not a issue right now but may one day be.
4. I also changed the image verification system from a simple font to a TTF font which makes it alot harder for bots to work on
5. I implemented a System Ban on nearly a 100 emails that are known for being spam sites
6. i went through our membership list for the last 2 months and deleted all spam bots account meeting the criteria with foreign IP addresses or email domains.
Since i have done all this, (knocks on wood) we have not had one Spam Bot sign up, I am monitoring it closely and often I am sure sooner or later they will squeeze around these safe guards.
Last resort fixes include
Installing a Registration Question that only someone familiar with Yserbius could answer and that extra question would wipe out a bot and even a spammer him or herself because they have very little patience for obstacles.
Disabling Registration with a message to email us for forum accounts. Which i do not intend on doing until all hope is lost

Ok.. Well, it's not excactly ideal place to draw... (good thing I'm not goina give the sketch to anyone, they'll find cheese sauce on it... LOL) but I managed to bust out a sketch of Tater/LC over my lunch break...I need to clean it up and fix LC's propotions, but I should have it done before the weekend...

Something I just put together. What is the deadline in case I think of something else to add? Feel free to modify, add, change, etc. Mike may have more or some changes to this. If you need a name to put after the article, please use Beramar and not Sidd.
I have to test them yet (might be a day or two) but I may have found a sleigh and some reindeer to drop in the server for us to add also. If it gets to late, I won't put it in.
Heading to a grade school christmas concert real quick.

Yserbius Ultima Online - It's been online for a little over 1 year and continues to go strong. There is a special gift package for the anniversay. What else has been going on?
The Christmas season brings all kinds of happiness, joy, and continued fellowship to YSUO. The town square is decorated. Houses are in full swing with snowmen, trees, and many presents. I think Santa was spotted in the snowy regions of the Northern Crags and flying over head getting ready for his big night.
Speaking of seeing things, recently I received some reports of some new mobs in our fair lands. As I checked these reports, I found a giant Guardian Dragon. Rumor has it has dragon eggs that can be hatched. Once hatched, the dragon can be trained and will evolve into a great pet to have at your side. The evolution will take a lot of time and training with the pet but it is well worth the training. We may need an event to conquer the guardian dragon!
I was able to see some chickens fighting, in earnest, with a clear victor. They were raised from a hatchling state.
A new, snake like hiryu was also seen. I still wonder what that has in store for the Realm.
YSUO has a new starting area, The Cawdor Gate House. There are many things on display - including the infamous Infinite Armor and Flex Sword - as well as some advanced player gates. You may start your character off as advanced character or you may still chose to start from scratch and build your own.
A special Quest Flex Sword is there for the taking, if you are brave enough to tackle the mobs in the way and complete the flex sword quest.
In search of some elf items from Heartwood? The items can be crafted, after completing the quest.
An Elven Steed has been in the realm for some time now. You couldn't ask for a more noble protector. However, it is a difficult task to tame one and it is not with out it's dangers.
Want to be that stealthy ninja or the strong samurai warrior? That wish can be grated in YSUO also. It's all up and working.
I know there are many things that are not mentioned. It would be well worth your time to come and enjoy an evening with old friends and make new friends in a free adventure that never ends!
