I've decided to bite the bullet and DM a game here.
(God help us all.)

Anyone wishing to play, whip up a 1st level 3.5 D&D character. Anyone not using a PHB class/race must get DM's permission.

PM me your characters stats so I know who you are and what you can do. Don't bother to include equipment of any kind. Background is helpful but not required.

This game will emphasize role-play and story, combat will definitely be secondary.

Full disclosure time. I have never done this before (DM'ed an online game) so it may suck. I also like to run a light-hearted game, so deep deep roleplayers might not be able to "immerse" themselves.

My plan is to paint the picture, players post what they are doing, and I tell you what happens. Any variables will be handled by my handy-dandy-random-number-generation-system (dice) on my end.

I will update when I can, but please excuse real-life getting in the way of the game. Its a bitch, so deal.

Anything that would be priveleged info will be communicated through PM. If you want to secretly talk to a specific character, PM them, but copy me what you are doing so I stay informed.

Anyway, we will see how it runs. Kickoff will be Friday, September 30th.

Also, any similarities of NPC's, settings, and events to real life stuff is purely accidental and unintentional...really.

I would love to play but I'm essentially retarded.

I don't know how to make a character and I'll probably have to watch the first time through without trying to actually contribute anything but smart ass.

Anyone have a portable hole they can carry me in through this?

Maybe I can be someone's crystal ball or something. The disembodied head a la Meg Tilly.

Last time I tried to play D&D I questioned the hell out of the DM until he finally did everything he could to kill me off, make my life no fun whatsoever, (I'm a mage, my only spell is lightning, and he keeps dumping me in sewers knee-deep in water. Or always attacked by the magic-immune) I stopped going when all the note passing between guys on either side of me asking me to go out got to be too much for me.

I've been hurt before.

Since desire to role-play is paramount, actual D&D experience is nifty, but unnessesary.

Creating a character is more of a mnemonic for me to know what someone is good at (AKA skills). For example, if someone says they grab the joystick of the out-of-control plane, if according to their character sheet they do not know how to fly a plane, things will most likely go bad in a most spectacular way.

Bottom line, we are all here to have fun.

Niether can I, that's what makes it fun :)

Besides if Fleetwood here is anything like my RL DM you'll have a enjoyable and interesting time :!:

I can help anyone in developing a character. Just let me know what ya want your character to be like... good in fighting or casting... a jack of all trades, stealthy, etc.

The tricky thing is how can I roleplay a drunk on the forum game as well as I do in RL. I call it roleplaying, my group calls it... well... PJP being drunk :p

The rest is pretty negotiable. Navic, help me make me a decent character and tell me what to do, please. I might listen, might not. Will probably argue a lot 'cause that's what I do.

The smart is fiction. I'm just mostly argumentative. I'm afraid the limitations of the player are going to have some transfer.

Please don't make me a cleric. I was a druid in EQ for two years and if one more person ever asks me to heal them I'll...

well, you get the idea.

You can be anything ya wanna be... I once "tried" to play a smart mage... he turned out to be a drunk who thought he knew everything, but was mostly wrong :p No really!

Some things ya might want to think about...
Race- Hunman, elf, halfling, etc
Class- fighter, mage, bard, etc
Skills/Feats- knowledge, stealthy (rogue), better your fighting style or casting capablilities, etc
Mannerisms/alignment- argumentative, you get the idea.

Take a look at that character generator that Tig posted. I'm sure Fleetwood could also help out.

You can't make a bad character... having fun is more important then having Da Bada$$ :p

How 'bout an insulting/ranting halfling bard! Instead of singing to inspire the party you could use insults to fluster the foes into fighting poorly. Plus there' nothing like smartass lil people :p

Wait, wait. Half elven. I remember that humans don't like elves and elves don't like humans, so I like to be half of each to piss them all off.

I'll look like Famke Janssen, please.

I'd try to sound like someone else, but I'll sound like me mostly. And I really can sing!

This'll be fun I think.... You allowing Prestige Classes? assuming we survive that long... LOL :lol:

And we're using 3.5 rules, correct?

My wife (Raisa) and I are thinkin about joinin... =) She's never played either... But I feel she'll enjoy it since she likes to RP in Emp... =)

Knowing the rules aren't really needed in Game play... All ya gotta know how to do is RolePlay... Thats easy for us here, no? 8)

*Edit* This URL, http://www.pathguy.com/cg35.htm Seems to have more stuff for making a char sheet... So if you know what your doing, and like creating chars, might like this one instead...

This should get you a good standard character started... Just follow the red arrows... Once filled out, it will generate another window with your stats... Cut and paste this into Word (I used Office 2005) and it looks nice and readable, with room to make notes... If Fleetwood will accept this, email it to him... :wink:
