When growing up, I was given a LARGE collection of VERY old baseball cards... Well, old for me back then... I was only... What, 8? 9? at the most... I didn't know any better. So I looked at them, put them in rubber bands, ect. Then I met this neighbor kid, a lil older then me, he was a character.... LOL Uh.. Sorry, inside joke... Anyway, he taught me not to put them in rubber bands and freaked out that I had done so.... Whoops... Anyway, since then I've collected baseball cards and so I have a fair collection. Plus I was pretty much into the whole Baseball era as I call it. I could tell you the stats on a lot of the times best players... Nolan Ryan, Cecil Fielder, Bo Jackson! Or could anyway, until I stopped collecting them... This was the dark age of Baseball, the First Strike (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994_baseball_strike). I was still only a kid then, only... 14... Their lust for more money then I'd ever see in my life time sickened me to the point, I just didn't care about baseball anymore... I gave up on them, stopped trading cards, everything... Disillusioned, I turned to basketball, which wasn't as much fun trading card wise as baseball... But with the Bulls in the height of their reign, it was ok....
Anyway... Fast forward to present day. The Detroit Tigers have always been my team. Uh.. Mostly because the word "Tiger" is present in their name... LOL But also because my favorite home runner Cecil Fielder played for them... I've been watching them still, even after the strike but because good ol'Sparky was running the show then, I never really felt the Tigers had a chance to make it to the show. With new blood though, comes new hope. And this season is proving to be very interesting to say the least. It's to the point now that I'm getting interested in the sport again... Aside from a brief rally when the D-Backs won the world series, I haven't been that interested in the sport. I hope the Tigers make it the play offs... If they do, I'll watch every game.... If they make it to the Series... I'm goina try my best to get to a game....
Go Detriot!!!
