“Mapping”: Recording game information of a Zone

I found this is the best way to tackle mapping a zone. Here’s the basic run-down of what needs to be recorded.

:/ Using graph paper, draw a map of the zone. Save room for notes.

:/ Major battle locations.
-Record these area’s on your map using numeric.
-Screen shots. So we have an image of the mobs and the battle message. You may have to take a shot of the first time you fight them, then another the second time. See below.
-Fight the battle at least twice (more the better) cuz sometimes the first drop has special items/gold.

:/ NPC (Non-Player Character) locations.
-Record these area’s on your map using alphas.
-Screen shot. So we have an image of the NPC and their message.

:/ Log all of the random mobs you encounter.
-Record the number of times you encountered a particular random. Ex: A Wolf 3 times, 2 Wolves 2 times, Hardy Halfling barbs 1 time, a Snake 5 times, etc. This will allow us to figure out the chances (%) of meeting a particule encounter.

:/ Doors, Teleports, Pits and Special walls.
-Note any keys, lockpicks, items, etc that are needed to open doors on your map.
-Note at what character position does special walls & doors appear. I found a few appearing/disappearing doors and walls in the Basement and Soldiers Quarters. If your character was positioned (on the map) below the door it appeared. When above it you saw just a wall.

:/ Screen shots. Take screen shots of:
-Major battles.
-NPC locations.
-Random mobs
-Text of tapestries. A maxed Read Rune skill is necessary.
-Text of fountains
-Basically any text or special images you encounter.
