As the daylight shines thru the windows, I see the my old tavern is a bit dusty and in of repair. The fireplace is cold and the kegs of ale, mead and wine are empty. My favorite chair stands in it's corner, unused for many years. Always the solitary man, I quested alone, I drank alone. But never in an empty hall. I say to everyone, time to come home. Those of you who gave up the quests to be become gentleman farmers, those who married and chose to raise children, those of you who sought adventure in far off lands, I say, Come Home. A new quest has begun. The quest of rediscovery. Let us travel together and see what old and new mysteries Yserbius has to offer. I stand ready.

Oh, I like you Arboc.

I should have visted Misty Hollow more often.

I hate to miss all the fun.

Pull up a chair and tell me your stories. I've got a candle and a spot with fewer cobwebs than some of the other spots.

Aaaaaaa, dear lady. The stories this old Knight could tell. I came to this land many a year ago with my master Saxon, the lost king. Having been forced from home by his cousin, I brought him here to train him, educate him in the ways to be both a knight and a king. My master and I returned to our home and Saxon regained his throne. But I couldn't stay. I discovered that I must always wander. This land always held a special place in my heart, so I came here to seek old allies and lost one night loves  But, nay, by the time I returned, the buildings were all shuttered, the fields overgrown and only the village scum remained. Yserbius was dead to me. So I ventured north, seeking to help where I could. Several weeks ago as I was hunting a giant wolf, that was terroizing a mountain village, I received word from my dear old comrade, Listle, that life had returned to this land. I slew the wolf, packed my saddle bags, and came straight here. This place is in need of good cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. Rest assure, Arboc the true, will help. And what you dear lady? Are you ready to aid this land? Restore it? So the best questing in the world resume?

Cyren tips a sip of mead back and smiles.
"I came long ago to Sword Swamp, started as a T.W.I.T., a Tavern Wench In Training. I ruffled feathers and tweaked noses a bit for a living, met a few that were untweakable and unruffled, and generally stayed with that sort."
Cyren's eyes dance in the candlelight and the shadows on the walls seem to get just a little more animated, slightly out of synch with her movements, just that little to make it seem out of place, out of time, just a little unnerving to those without the requisite nerves...more like home to her.
"I learned that you can meet your family in strange places and in the phrasing of overheard conversations. If you turn your head just right you can catch your latest whim as it heads around a corner. It's up to you whether or not you're going to chase it into the depths. I also learned that such things are stalking you, and not always on a whim." She tries to look serious, but just can't hold it for more than a few seconds "And that's usually even more fun."
Cyren's eyes meet Arboc's over the dust and her eyes skirt the corners of this tavern, just different enough from her own homes to be of interest, trying to soak in the character.
"I think there's enough out there to challenge us all. I think Listle is a lady that I would be proud to have on my side in a brawl or a debate. I think with friends like that, the enemies will come. They want to have fun too."
Cyren leans back and tips the rest of her mead back like a shot and puts the glass down on the table, a ring left on the old wood, a new mark in the dust, just as the tallow candle makes new soot patterns curl black on the rafters.
"I think with friends, family and enemies, there's not much we can't do, even bring these places not only to their old glory, but beyond it. Keep in mind that you can't tell the difference between friends, family and enemies at times, but that's the fun, isn't it?"

"I was orphaned at a young age. The King, Vandell, saw to it that I was placed with his own Sgt. at Arms, Iric the Bold and his wife Vanda. They had no children of their own and treated me as if I was their own. Iric was a common born man who served his King with great such great honor he sat at Vandell's right his whole life. He taught me to obey and respect a good king. One that not only rules his people, but serves them as well. Iric died in service to his beloved king, and the day after his funeral, I entered into the King's service, 1st as a squire, then a Knight. Finally was give the task of bodyguard to the King's only child, Saxon. Vandell died when Saxon was only 1o years old. Shortly there after his older cousin, Traighton, staged a coup against the young boy. Many brave Knights were slaughtered that day. I was barely able to get the boy out of his kingdom before he was exacuted. for more then 3 years we traveled the world, seeking a safe place. And we did. Yserbius. Here far away from his cousin's reach, I taught the young king all that my adopted father had taught me. Not only how to fight, but what to fight for. And Saxon learned this well. He learned this so well that I had no reservations about leaving him to rule his people." "What I knew as a family is long gone. I have come back to a place where peace and truth filled my ever vigilant heart. I have come back to this place in hopes of teaching that which I taught Saxon all those years agao." As Arboc stares into Cyren's eyes, she realizes that this man, not a young man, but not an old man either. A man who has fought many a battle, slew many enemy, is a true as his name. Arboc lifts his goblet of spring water and speaks "Mead and ale have past my lips many a time in the past. And some day will do so again. When the day's quest has been won. But for now, I must remain focused, to concentrate on my latest quest. To restore Yserbius and bring it's children home. To your health dear lady."

Ah, good! You've made it, Arboc, after much pestering (and I quote "You sure are demanding for someone I haven't slept with), and glad to have you here I am! The place is starting to feel like home again :) Welcome back, my dear friend!

And Cyren... please do feel free to come back often, your company is most welcome! <motions her over and shows her a complext set of movements that open up a secret door behind the bar, exposing a very dusty bottle of her favorite mead and a newer bottle of thor's hammer vodka> <her voice drops to just above a whisper> Let's just keep this between the ladies, that man can drink! <flashes a roguish wink as she re-conceals the bottles>

Oh, and Arboc? Now that you're back... <tosses him a ring of keys> I'm off on that journey I'd told you about, and won't be able to come by as often for the next few weeks... keep the home fires burning, won't you? And surely such a big strong boyo as yourself could work on fixing up some of these fallen shelves and patch some of those holes in the roof? I'll make you the same offer as I did Navic - as long as ya work, ya drink for FREE! <pulls her pack up on her shoulder, almost staggering beneath the weight> Whoever said you should travel light never wore chainmail

And Arboc? Before you go and get your knickers in a twist... I didn't know you'd sworn off the sauce for the duration, so I have something special for ya... <pats a barrel tucked behind the bar> Some of the finest, freshest water you'll ever taste! <takes out her trusty axe of doooooooom and bashes in the top, grabs the cleanest, largest glass available and dips it in the water that sparkles, even in the dimly lit room> There, am I forgiven now?

<wanders back out, muttering about those knights and their easily dented dignity> Behave you!
