slo, i think the main reason why nothing is happening here is that there's no reason to be here. We all love yserbius but without any new developments, there's no reason to keep coming back. If we want to rekindle interest, we need to get things going.

who's got a remake? who's hacking the TSN client software?

DAVEN? Anyone?

Check out my post on the FauxINN forums...

Yeh, basicly what I ment... I don't know the code that went into Yserbius, but surely with all the l33t h4x0rs out there, we should be able to find some way to host it, or create a new client "window" based system? As for the legel side, well... Why not ask Ken Williams?

Lemme rephrase that..... If its as simple as porting it over to a window, maybe we could get permission to get the old one setup on a server somewhere for our nestalgic use untill either we patition the re-creation of Yserbius into an updated MMORPG... Couldn't hurt to ask about the older version though... Any ideas on this?

i asked Ken williams and Al Lowe. Ken never responded. Al did - he didnt have anything, nor could he really remember anyone who could.

LOL, if he can be found... Maybe since we know where Al and Ken can be found, they'd be happy to either A, join us, or B, point us in the right direction for finding Joe, or other information...

i dont even know who joe ibarra is. Must have something to do with development of YS????
I believe he was the primary developer of Yserbius, or some other high position on the design team.

Google points him out to be the producer of The Matrix Online. It's probably the same Joe from Yserbius :p

It shouldn't be too difficult. I would just write to whatever company he was last affiliated with, requesting some sort of contact info. Heck, I was able to score Ken Williams' personal e-mail address back in 1996 or so. It can happen :)

Sounds like a plan..... So, who's goina be nominated? 1.2.3. Not it!

And what about the other two? Might as well see if they will join our discussion about bringin Yserbius back for ol'time sake.... Another question we might pose to them... Who has the licensing to it now? I'll be happy to drop over to the Sierra board, mentioned by our good friends here at Yserbius.org and post to Ken and Al, if ya think the'll look there...?

Here's what I wrote to Al and posted on the Sierra site, under Ken Williams Q&A....

My name is Daniel Dickinson, currently of Phoenix Arizona. I have been a long time Sierra fan and huge gamer. We have recently put together a site dedicated to Yserbius, which you can see at Yserbius.org. We were wondering if you would be so kind as to join us in discussing bringing Yserbius back and how we may go about it. Offer insight on who we should talk to. Ups and downs and any other information you may be able to add that could help us. We're a small group of people, run by Ex-Inners (Imagination Network) that only hung out in Yserbius, back in the day. We would be honored if you could join us.

Thank you for your time,
Daniel "Tiger" Dickinson

D'oh!

Hopefully Monolith will point us in the right direction, at least.

If anyone here has connections with a gaming publication (IGN, etc.) I'm sure they have some decent resources.
