YSUO and possible Logon problems

Hail and well met ~/ .

If you have updated to the most recent version of UO, you may experience some problems logging in to YSUO using UOGateway. Read on for the fixes :)

OSI/EA used a new version number on it's latest 2 patches. This new version number creates some issues with the encription key and UO Gateway - UO Gateway cannot get past it so the UO client will not get past the verifying account screen or you will get an error. This happens with versions 5.0.6.5 and 5.0.7.0. I started making a backup copy of client.exe (2d) and uotd.exe (3d) before I patch, then you can revert back to them if something like this happens again. The version that you want is 5.0.6e.

The downside to not updating to at least version 5.0.6e is that you cannot take advantage of the new housing tiles and some other goodies.

Here are some possible fixes so you can still get the goodies -

Redownload or reinstall the UOML install program, let it patch but stop the patching process when you get to version 5.0.6e (just watch the messages i.e. "downolading patch uoml_win32_5-0-1a.rtp" and hit cancel when it starts downloading 5-0-6-5). Make sure you stop it during the download, once it starts to apply the patch, you are stuck. This is easier than it may sound. :)

Next option - ConnectUO is very similar to UO Gateway. Following is the Connect UO link. There is a possiblity that you need the .net framework from microsoft for ConnectUO to work also. It can be downloaded from microsoft. ConnectUO allows for multiple instances (multiple accounts) running at the same time in 2d. I was not able to log on with 2 accounts using the 3d client.

The next option is to download razor, another front end loader for UO from the following link:
http://www.runuo.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=2 or http://razor.runuo.com/

Razor requires the .net framework 1.1, which can be downloaded from Microsoft. I was only able to get 1 UO client started with Razor, I imagine they will update that in the near future so you can have multiple instances running. Again, possibly a 3d issues rather than a 2d issue.

UOGateway may be updated in the future but the person that made that program has not been around in a while and so it may not be updated for quite some time.

You will need the YSUO IP address if you chose to use razor. The YSUO server can be found in the ConnectUO public servers list. Just click the public server link, then sort by name. Using ConnectUO instead of UOGateway (until UOGateway is updated) allows you to keep updating the UO client without any worries for future additions.

Please post here with any problems and we will help you get them figured out :)

Hope to see you all stop in and enjoy the Realm ~/

Updated News

A new version of Razor and ConnectUO have been updated with various little fixes. Both appear to work fine with the newest patches from OSI/EA in both 2d and 3d - multiple instances of UO running at the same time, etc.

ConnectUO is very, very similar to UOGateway so it would be an easy switch.

As a classic movie star once stated......"Game On!"

See you online. ~/

Working Well

Just as an FYI - (and I'm sure I'm a bit late in sharing) - once you patch the base and update Razor to the latest version, things work just peachy :)
