Mark Jacobs, GM of EA Mythic, and Vice President of EA, has posted a statement about Sanya Thomas sudden departure from the company. Sanya has been the Community Manager for Mythic since prior to the release of DAOC, and was one of the, if not the, longest tenured Community Mangers out there.

Okay, I said I wasn't going to say anything else about the situation but I think I spoke a bit too soon. Thus:
1) The guys/gals at EA HQ/Corporate/insert your favorite phrase here, were not involved in this decision in any way whatsoever. Nobody had "it out" for Sanya, Mythic's community management team isn't being consolidated/absorbed, etc. While I know that may come as a shock to some (here and in other places), Sanya's departure had nothing to do with people, events or change outside of EA Mythic. Anyone who says/hints otherwise is ridiculously wrong. Frankly, it would have been easier on everyone if it had been a "corporate" decision as in that case, there would be a true villain to blame for what has happened. Unfortunately, that is simply not so. Over the years, Mythic has lost a number of people, including some of our earliest, and most valuable team members like Matt Firor, so we expect it to happen every so often. Matt wasn't the first talented person to leave Mythic and like any company/team, Sanya won't be the last talented person to leave as well. However, we have lost fewer people over the years than just about any other major developer I'm aware, especially one that has been around 11 years. It is a sad fact of life that people and things change over time. Sometimes it is for the best, sometimes it isn't and sometimes it is a combination of both. Time, as always, will reveal how this will work out for everyone involved.
