I bet it would... Denial of service attacks suck... We battle them constently here... Well, not really... We have servers that detect those types of things before the impact our systems/hosting.

I am ordering a new dedicated server today for the site, I am hoping this helps with the slow downs and such. $99.00 a month plus additional $35.00 a month for Cpanel, not a real uber server but it is something better than this shared server which has nearly 1100 different websites on it. Let you all know more after lunch,,

Speaking of which, going to have to make a migration schedule now get this all switched over., should be pretty simple deal cuz i ordered new server with new DNS so i can just backup and then restore both the website and the mysql database onto the new server then all i have to do is visit my registar and switch the DNS info on the domain names to new DNS and it should migrate on its own within a couple hours

Only thing will be a possible lag if someone post on old,, no wait,, when i change the DNS info i will shut down the forum with a message that system is undergoing maintenance and will be back within a couple hours

then when i see it has migrated i will turn forum back on.

Sorry I haven't been around much. Everything here is going as well as can be expected. I was hunting down in WV for 10 days after Thanksgiving and blasted a big O doe... err that's not PC, sorry... I meant to say... I was blessed and harvested a beautiful doe which is now in my freezer (I love Bambi, she tastes good). The weather was outstanding and the people are great (and stink at poker). It gets tougher 'n tougher for me to leave WV. Once back in OH-IO (Go Buckeyes!) it's been the same 'O shat until last Wednesday my dart team won the season Championship (yeah!). And that was your Navic update

getting alot of spammers signing up sigh.

I did change the usergroup promotions level.. now i have it set so that automatically after 7 days of sitting in the COPPA usergroup the members will move into the NEWUSER group so we dont have to keep watching them, from NEWUSER group any attempt to make a post will alert us that a post needs to be moderated and if spam we take appropriate action.

We now have absolute 0 tolerance to Spammers and people from foreign IP's ban them where they are found!!

Side note they are still building my server will begin to work on it as soon as it is online.

I am working right now on other ways of making these spammers lose interest.

Dont overdo it but if everyone could click 2 or 3 links of the text ads i put on the forums everyday i would appreciate it. with this new server it will help a little. i would say 2 or 3 clicks in time period like 3 in the am and maybe 3 in the pm , just whatever interest you. thanks Slo

Ok i have the new server I am going to be working on porting Yserbius.org to its very own server, will let you all know when it is ready to go.

I think we made excellent progress against the spammers today!. they are going to have to register some new domain names.
