Hey guys, yeah sorry about that. The last month or so I've had several out of town trips and much work conspire to keep me away from further work on the server. Time should open up in the next week or two and I'll tackle those periodic server crashes. I will try to keep a closer eye on the server to restart it when I notice it down. If you notice it down shoot me an email at macros _AT_ irealms.com, I'm likely to notice that more quickly than periodic checks on the server itself.
As to the cause of the crashes, a few of them are due to users hitting currently not implemented functionality. This includes:
-Writing Email
-Creating Message Board Posts
-Creating New Character
-Deleting Character
So please try to avoid those actions. During the port I configured not yet implemented actions to halt the server so that there'd be no mistake about something implemented or not during the port. Unfortunately that decision leads to the server going down anytime someone does one of those things.
The rest of the server downtime seems to be from the server intermittently losing connection to the database server. I do not yet know the cause of this but have added more debugging telemetry to log more details about that particular crash when it happens. Hopefully as it happens more I'll have the details needed to quickly correct the issue. Regardless of the delays, we will get the new linux port working as reliably as the old server. We're committed to getting Emp back online as it was.
Thanks for all the help in testing it out and letting us know about any issues, we appreciate it!
