<Gives Marissa a wink as he moves to inspect Raisa's "impression">

Hey Jackie boy, do you have any idea of what island we're on?

As for the hinged jaw, it appears the something must trigger it to open. What, I don't know. <grooms his frightfully dry hair>

Yeh, give him the torch and let him go first... We'll follow behind a few steps...I'll bring up the rear... Here... <Takes the other torch>

Ok, lets go... Slowly....

You decend the twisting staircase.

Thirty feet down you find yourselves in a narrow passageway of stone. Musty air rank with decay fills your nostrils. You can't help but thinking about being buried alive.

Ahead the passageway leads both straight, left and right.

The only light is yours.

*The taste of decay coated her tongue - it wasn't just a backwash burp of the muffit tuffet plant she'd eaten to ward off spiders - something or somethingS had definately breathed their last down here in this dark and creepy place. Pulling the monkey vest from her ragged bodice she looped the armholes over each of her pointy ears, the body of it covered her mouth and nose, making an effective filter for the fetid air.*

ACHOOOO!

*She heard a curse of surprise at the sudden explosive noise coming from her position in the back of the group. She was sure all eyes were on her, though it was hard to tell in the dimness, plus her explosive exhalation had blown the vest up and over her eyes. She pulled it down.*

"Sorry... I must be allergic to monkey hairs, or maybe the smell of death dealt in small doses of tortore over hours, DAYS, of horrifying sensations - beginning with the scrap of nails over the slate in these walls, moving up to the forced licking of the edge of a blade laced with the pus from the boil of a leperous corpse, and finally -"

*She trailed off, suddenly aware that the body language of those turned to look at her was ever more ummm... Well the fact was that it appeared Tiger had his dagger raised and was making unconcious throat cutting motions while staring at her.*

"Oh look, we have options!" She indicated the passageways. "The only advice I have in this case is the words from my Aunt Feloni, she always said, "China, whatever ya do, never go straight - go forward."

*Her head tilted questionly*

<Keeping to the shadows, Dapper Dan slinks silently down the stairs. He reaches the junction and stops to listen in each direction... the silence is broken...>
"ACHOOOO!"
"YO Slick! Ya find anything yet?"
"...never go straight, go..."
"right!"
<Dap's head drops til his chin touches his chest>
"So much for the stealth option."
Aye Jackie Boy, aye...
<Dap raises his head as he turns to face the party going on behind him>
Raisa dear, do you have anything to add? <smile>

<jumps as the sneeze echoes through the narrow passage, hears Dan's voice> Hmm? Oh.. me.. no not really. Was just lost in thought I guess. <looks around the walls, not sure what I'm seeking>"Is it just me or does anyone else feel that we missed something up there?" <Looks back towards the head of the stairs> "I can't help feeling that the danger that seeks us will come from above... this hole in the ground will not bode well for all the members of this party" <Feels a cool chill settle over my skin as we continue to move down the stairs deeper into the dark, but not of the same intensity as the fear that I felt above the ground>

<In a low voice> Danger may be all around us, or we may found nothing but dead bodies and small spiders. Either way we only have so many torches. Tiger watch our rear back there. And Raisa dear, be ready for those dead walking lads
With any luck we'll find some supplies to hold us over while on this bloody island. <Turns and moves forward (straight) I could use some pomade...>

Dan advances down the hallway. Marissa follows behind.

You come to an open doorway thirty feet down the corridor. Suddenly, torches inside the room flare to life causing you to blink from the sudden increase of light.

The room is twenty feet wide and thirty feet long. At the far end is a small dias and an altar. On the altar is a small golden statue of a snake.

The walls are covered in relief carvings of intertwined snakes.

Oh yeah, and there is a dead body in the middle of the room.

<Comes into the room behind Dan and looks around>

Traps kill that guy, Slick? Have a look around...

Raisa...? Any thing...Uhm... Undead, in the room that you can tell?

<Goes to one of the torches and looks at it> China... these things only able to burn in this room, or do you think we can use them?

*Scowling at the statue of the golden snake (though the only indication was the sudden droop in the middle of the monkey vest she wore over her face - it was a very large scowl indeed), she looked at the torches carefully.*

"Sure we can use them, Tiger. If I wanted to I could put them all on the ground and spell out "HI", or I could club some clodish villan across the back of the head, the front of the kneecap, or maybe be the giver of one hell of a splinter up the backside."

*She considered Tiger's dagger (she'd heard him call it a "longsword", but he was a man afterall.)*

"You could use your blade to carve a key, or perhaps a likeness to a tadpole. You could hold a torch in each hand and beat out the rhythm of the war drums."

*She grabbed a torch and walked out of the room with it. The bright smokeless flame disappeared as suddenly as it had come to life, upon leaving the boundries of the room. She walked back in and it flamed up. She walked out, it extinguished. She moved across the threshold back in to the room a mere inch. It flamed up. She collapsed to the ground with her arms across the threshold and her rag covered bottom outside the room. The torch stayed lit. She pulled the torch slowly across the small space that defined the entrance to the room. It went out in segements as the diameter of its flaming surface went excrutiatingly slowly across the boundry of the room into the hallway. She stood up, dusted her backside, jumped as she carelessly used the hand with the torch (inside the confines of the room's entrance) to aid in her quest for cleanliness and got a hotspot instead. She quickly turned her smoldering hind quarters out into the hallway. The smoldering stopped immediately.*

"We can't use them as illumination beyond this room, but if we run in to a giant we could possibly sell them to him as chopsticks."

*She replaced the flaming torch in its brace on the wall.*

(watches Lady China play with the magical torch)

"Hey, that body looks like its been here awhile." He doesn't seem to look like a pirate. I wonder if it was another castaway that caught himself a bad case of dead."
