(We interupt this game for a Public Service Announcement.)

Fleetwood here. I apologize for the lack of posting. Holidays get crazier every year.

I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and we will see who survives in 2006!

<Snickers> I wouldn't call that a victory.. More like a stratigical retreat.... But I'll drink to it non-the-less...

<Plops down on the sand> In the morning, we'll head to the temple... I'll take first watch.... Let the spell casters regain their energy, we'll need it for the trip....

Your night passes uneventfully.

You awaken and make preparations for your trip to the ruined temple.

(you may now list said preparations)

*Slowly chewing a large portion of the Muffet Tuffet plant she'd found growing out of a particullary smelly spit of land, she thumped her stomach in distressed satisfaction. She thought it was the plant her crazy cousin Sassafras Sally had shown her. She could be wrong. On the other hand, she could be right. Certainly she smelled quite horrid, if she did say so herself, and it seemed to be getting worse as the plant was ingested and seemed to seep from her pores. She didn't think she'd be much use with a weapon, though the Simbian Chokehold of Death lay ready for use in her mental arsenal. The Muffet Tuffet would have to do. She wondered if the spiders' had to get a taste of it before it worked its magic or if the smell were enough. Pulling the monkey vest from her ragged bodice she stared at it...*

Following the group automatically my mind wanders over recent events. I hear the muffled blasts of the ship, feel the grit of the sand upon my cheek as I wake on the beach. Memories of Marissa’s fear, Dan’s melancholy, LCs confusion begin to overwhelm my senses. A sudden stabbing pain in my toe brings me out of my thoughts, looking down I see an odd shaped stone. I lean over and realize there are actually five of the small stones at my feet. Picking them up I feel their smooth coolness against my palm. I place them gently in the remaining pocket of my tattered clothing, taking a small comfort from their presence. With a lighter heart I enter the gloom of the jungle, listening to the sounds that are so unfamiliar to me. As I follow along, I need to shield my eyes from random rays of sunshine that manage to make their way through the thick canopy. Glimpses of movement to my right… or is it only more shadows?

<Grabs the longsword he had used the day before and pushes his way through the undergrowth where Jacq had pointed the way towards the ruins, going fast at first, then slowing as I got deeper into the forest, making sure ever so ofter that everyone was still following behind or ahead and was in site. Keeping his ears and eyes open, watching as I go along>

Reacting without thinking, I grab one of the smooth stones from my pocket and with a flick of my wrist fling it towards the spider. As it leaves my fingertips, I feel a slight vibration. The stone connects at the base of the spiders skull, flipping it off of Black Jacques, killing it instantly. The hairy beast lands on the dank jungle floor with a muffled thud. Still frightened by the spider, but curious as well I take a stick and move it’s body. Amazingly its hairy jointed legs have frozen in a position of protection around its soft underbelly. I then notice the stone next to the spiders head and bend over to pick it up. The stone feels very cold to my touch, but smooth and somehow right. As I place it back into my pocket it occurs to me that I no longer feel the vibration… or life… in the stone yet it still strangely comforts me to have it in my pocket with the others. Speaking to no one in particular I step past the frozen body of the spider “We must be more careful”.

(rolls around on the ground until he realizes the spider is no longer on his back)

"Thanks Raisa. Nice shot."

(points through the jungle, voice in a whisper)

"There it is..."

Through the jungle you see a low (3ft high) stone wall covered in moss and crumbling down in many places.
Beyond that is a courtyard of loose fitting stone flagstones. Dominating the center is a low building thirty feet across and ten feet high.
An archway into darkness flanked by columns carved in the shape of demons is at the center. The walls of the building also bear carvings of demonic shapes devouring humans and other depravities.

*ignoring the dead spider, her eyes looked up into the canopy of the jungle. In her experience spiders never came without some form of sticky traps which would be full of things of possible interest. How could it not be so when the spider was the size of a cat?*

<Moves in beside Jacq and looks around, taking a few steps to the left, searching the grounds, holding his longsword at his side.>

<moves toward the arches to stare up at the ancient craftmenship> Well.. Somone used to live here... Or died here... Lets look around the grounds then move in further... Arms ready, and stay in eachothers line of site...
